Hola, my name is Erica and I'm from from Portland, Oregon. The ideas and inspirations for my handbags evolved as soon as I relocated to Mexico in 2008, where I live today with my family. I was drawn to the vibrant colors and textures of our new surroundings.  My original design came to life when my daughter grew out of a traditional hand embroidered Mexican dress and it became my first handbag...the Merida Hobo Bag.

The core materials I use are genuine Mexican hand embroidered items. These embroidery techniques have been around for centuries and handed down through the generations. I up-cycle these items into unique fashion forward handbags and accessories for women.

Colors, textures, and places that I travel to. Inspirations tend to sneak up on me when I’m least expecting it. That's’ the moment I love. That “ah, ha” moment in time, when creations and ideas form in my mind.

Patricia Vincent

My name is Patricia Vincent and I’m working in Austria as an independent fashion designer. I was born in Bucharest, Romania and live in Vienna since 2002 where I’ve been studying fashion design and tailoring techniques. In 2006 after finishing my studies, I’ve decided to rent a small studio and first started to put in practice everything that I loved about designing and sewing, based on my scholar knowledge. Now, I’m creating unique or very limited series of clothing and handbags. I’m in love with my profession and all what comes with it. I dedicate my work most of my time as I design and sew everything by myself, trying to give the best to each piece and enjoy every small success.

My inspiration comes mostly from our past: world traditions, style
approaches, classicism. So, I’m combining details the past, as well
taking in consideration our present and future, the evolution of the
women's body, desires and lifestyle. Vienna is a spring of great art, a
place where the past is reflected and respected. Having relatively easy
access to it, gives me the freedom to explore and be original.

Yara Salazar "Upcycled leather Bags"

http://www.etsy.com/listing/84125170/bm2-double-use-messenger-backpack-orange
I'm Yara Salazar, a graphic designer from Costa Rica. In 2002 my mom Marta Hidalgo starts with the idea of reused leather to create bags, but it was 2 years ago when we mix our knowledge and experience to start formally with the project va.de.nuevo. What we do is to design bags from damaged or old fashion leather clothes, we restore and clean the leather to bring it the possibility of get a new life, at the time we rescue the personality and softness of a leather that already lived. We get inspired on our own needs and tastes on design, we love to play with textures, contrasts and colors, we try to produce impact in and out.

Sylvia Pichler - "My bag is my castle"

Sylvia Pichler, a young Italian architect, prefers designing handbags over skyscrapers. Drawing on industrial materials typically reserved for insulation, interior decoration or even air filtering, Pichler creates curiously elegant bags under the moniker Zilla. The bags are made in Italy and  sold in selected shops around the world.
"Bags are conceived as moving structures and mobile homes for women"

The Zilla Spring/Summer 2011 collection consists of simple yet extremely feminine bags in a variety of styles. Special filters, natural cork, aluminum foils, bast fiber, rubber and synthetic sponge combine with fine leather and linings for a collection that spans both day and night looks.
